Weight loss is rarely perfectly linear. This provides an average projection based on consistent caloric deficit.
How This is Calculated
Weeks required = weight to lose (kg) ÷ weekly loss rate (kg/week). A 500 kcal/day deficit ≈ 0.5 kg/week; 1,000 kcal/day deficit ≈ 1.0 kg/week. The CDC recommends a gradual weight loss of 0.5–1.0 kg/week as safe and sustainable. Actual loss is non-linear due to metabolic adaptation.
